Coaching update; Now Thurdays and Fridays

posted 15 Mar 2016, 06:35 by Willand Tennis

Folks,

A few things to update you on before the start of the new tennis season.

Firstly a warm welcome to our new coach, Charlie Lee, who officially starts at Willand Tennis Club this Friday (26th Feb 2016) as a full time LTA level 3 licensed coach. It’s great that with all the support we’ve had over the last few years, (from all our parents and juniors),  that this has allowed the club to appoint (and attract) a full time coach.  Charlie is very highly regarded; bringing with him all the experience from Tennis coaching in and around the Taunton & Somerset area.

An update on Junior night
Despite Charlie being a full time coach he still has some commitments to honour; meaning that Tuesday nights are currently unavailable.  As it stands the Willand Tennis Club committee have therefore moved Junior night for the remaining Winter season sessions (March) from Tuesday to Friday (keeping within the same group & start times).  However, some great news, following on after Easter (7th April) I can confirm that the committee has agreed to have junior coaching on a Thursday evening as well. These sessions are likely to be earlier on a Thursday (than Friday); so this will help those who prefer Tennis earlier; as well as those members who currently can’t do Friday’s.

Adult coaching and additional Junior coaching
Charlie is planning beginner and adult coaching, including cardio tennis, I ask that you please take advantage of these opportunities as his rates are currently very reasonable. He is available for one to one coaching or small groups so please get in touch with Charlie directly (07341826633).   Please note that tennis players are unlikely to reach LTA competition standard (and significantly improving your rating), with just group coaching alone!

Willand AGM
A chance for your voice to be heard.  It’s at the club on Monday 29th February at 7.30pm!

Lastly a word on me
I’m still playing well even though I’ll be out of action for about 6-9months at some point for a hip operation.   I’m hoping to be able to play in more matches this year so I’m looking forward to taking some of our older Juniors to more competitions.  Maybe playing with me??

Once again thanks for all your continued support..

Best Regards,

Paul Nelson on behalf of the Willand Tennis Committee
